The Network Management Board (NMB)

The Network Management Board is the decision-making body of the Consortium. The following participated in the meeting: NMB-members Thomas Boje, DK (chairman), Paul Dekker (NL), and Anne Kovalainen (FI); Dalva Dean (DK), Inger Vibeke Dorph (DK), and Marta Nachtmannová (CZ) from CINEFOGO Secretariat; and Newsletter Editor Lars Josephsen (DK). NMB members Zinka Kolarić (SI) and Martin Potůček (CZ) were not able to attend.

Ongoing activities, new work packages and related external projects

The NMB scrutinized the draft Activity Report for the CINEFOGO work in project year 2, based on a status as of 1. October, and reviewed a draft plan for activities in the rest of the project period, i.e. months 24 – 41 (and beyond). The draft included a continuation of ongoing activities and a launching of some new WPs. NMB’s basic concern was to ensure an effective integration of new WPs into already existing patterns of Network activities. In this context, NMB encouraged the Network partners to invite scholars from related EU-supported projects to participate in our activities, e.g. Intune, RECON, NewGov, IconnectEU, CONNEX, etc.

Some important activities highlighted

NMB acknowledged the well accomplished Midterm Conference in June 2007 (cf. elsewhere in this Newsletter). NMB approved that two more TRANSAACT Training courses should be arranged in 2008. (The first training course was held in Prague in September 2007). NMB noticed the new facility, named Student Corner, which is meant to support students of civil society and 3rd Sector research through a web based portal, organized around 5 main topics: Publications, Programmes, People, Places, Ph.D. resources. The portal is accessible from CINEFOGO website, or at www.civilsociety.se. NMB also overviewed the integrated tool for sharing and disseminating knowledge of the CINEFOGO Network: the Outcomes Database, located at http://cinefogo.cuni.cz.

Next organizational meetings

NMB decided that the next Network Council meeting will take place 20-22 May 2008 in Kaunas (Lithuania), prior to the PhD network meeting, that has been settled to 22-25 May 2008, also in Kaunas. A small meeting preparing the NC-meeting might take place in late April 2008, possibly in Prague. Next NMB meeting will take place in autumn 2008.
