Charles University in Prague (CESES-ChU-10)

The Center for Social and Economic Strategies (CESES), Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University in Prague, the Czech Republic

The Center for Social and Economic Strategies (CESES) was established in 2000 as an independent department at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University. Its purpose is to create a scientific and professional base for devising long-term visions regarding the development of the Czech Republic.

CESES is a think-tank that develops the theory, methodology and practice of prospective and future-oriented research. Its mission is to identify and analyze key developments in the Czech Republic, their impediments and opportunities in order to participate in and to inspire strategic, practical applications in Czech legislation and policy.

To achieve this, CESES develops both partial and comprehensive analyses, visions and scenarios of social, economic and political development of the Czech Republic in a broader context that includes both global, international, security and ecological aspects. Its interdisciplinary research team comprises experienced specialists as well as researchers on the threshold of their professional careers.
