Information for media

CINEFOGO is a network of academic institutions - but its knowledge is available for more audiences than just the academic one

CINEFOGO media information

CINEFOGO is an acronym for Network of Excellence “Civil Society and New Forms of Governance in Europe – the Making of European Citizenship”. CINEFOGO aims at enhancing the understanding of social and democratic processes, citizenship and democratic participation in Europe. It seeks to provide knowledge about civil society, citizenship and social protection, nourish a public debate on governance and strengthen intellectual co-operation. To learn more on CINEFOGO, visit http://www.cinefogo.org or send an e-mail to cinefogo@ruc.dk. The CINEFOGO Network of Excellence is supported by the European Commission within the Sixth Framework Programme, Priority 7: New Forms of Citizenship and Cultural Identities of the European Union.

CINEFOGO offers a rich source of documents on civil society, governance, citizenship, welfare, social protection, gender, cultural identities, civic participation and other topics related to changing forms of citizenship due in the processes of European integration  and globalization. Academic texts usually expect that the reader already knows a lot not only on the topic and its broader context, but also about scientific methods and concepts. In this corner we want to match research results to ongoing public debate and policy developments. The key non-academic stakeholders for topics studied by CINEFOGO Network of Excellence are policy-makers - mainly politicians, public administration, NGOs - organized civil society, journalists, and general public - citizens interested in democracy and social developments.
