Seminar: The single currency and European Citizenship: an Assessment
The general aim of the seminar that will be held on 3rd June in Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, Pisa - Aula magna storica, is to discuss the effects of the introduction of the Single Currency on the development of citizenship of the Union.
The general aim of the seminar is to discuss the effects of the introduction of the Single Currency on the development of citizenship of the Union. It implies taking into account different factors, related to some of the multiple links between the European Single Currency and citizenship of the Union:
· The construction of a European identity;
· The facilitation of the freedom of movement;
· The protection of consumers’ rights;
· The strengthening of economic interdependence and the links between the actors of the European economic space;
· The strengthening of Community institutions.
The very purpose of the seminar is to consider these dimensions as parts of a whole, using citizenship as a general point of view, rather than focusing on single issues or single scientific approaches.
